Alresford Ukulele Jam – Latest News 2015
The AUJ has been rather busy with gigs throughout the town. We started at the Globe at the beginning of the year – Press article – Hampshire Chronicle.
In March we organised a fund raiser with the Horse and Groom pub. We played for over 2hours and raised £120.00. In April we enjoyed playing for the Alresford Community Association at their St George’s Dinner.
We were street performers at this year’s Alresford Watercress Festival playing outside the Globe, outside the Horse & Groom, the top of Broad Street and East Street.
We opened the Alresford Music Festival kicking off the Beer Tent stage at 11.30am.
Our debut performance at the Alresford Duck Race on the 21st June was really good fun playing in a variety of locations including the island across the river using the events PA.
In July we entertained the crowds at Medstock andplayed in the revellers at the Sunhil Juniors Mad hatters summer ball.
August saw the AUJ play at the Rugby World Cup event on the 26th followed on the 29th opening the Alresford Cricketers Fun day and then onto Crawleyfest for the afternoon on the main stage!
Our last gig of the summer was at the Alresford Show where we entertained the crowds at the band stand getting people enthused about the Ukulele with favourites like Combine harvester and shake it off!

The AUJ meet every Tuesday evening at the Swan Hotel from 7.30pm to 10pm. We welcome anyone who would like to play with us – mostly ukuleles of various sizes but we also like to hear from other small instrument players and singers.
